Poison Dart frogs, also known as Poison Arrow frogs, got their name from Amerindian tribes who used the poisonous secretions from the frogs to make poison-tipped darts. Even though many people might not know it, only three species are deadly to humans. The most deadly species is the Phylobates terriblis who's poison can kill small animals or humans.
Arrow frogs are not poisonous in captivity. This is probably because frogs gain their poison from a specific arthropod and other insects in the wild, which probably gained the poison from plants in their diet. There are 116 species of poison dart frogs. Site wrtten and composed by Greg Del Vecho period 1.
